Salt & Suitcase ("we", "us") is an independent travel brand publishing destination guides and travel-planning tools. For any privacy question, email hello@saltandsuitcase.app.

• Account details — your name, email address and, if you sign in with Google, the basic profile information Google shares with us.
• Profile & travel preferences — home country, passport country, travel style, interests and anything else you choose to add.
• Trip content — itineraries you generate or save, budgets, notes, group chat messages and documents you upload to your trip folders.
• Newsletter & waitlist details — the email address and first name you give us when you subscribe.
• Location — only if you switch on location tracking in the Explorer map. It is used in your browser to centre the map and is not stored on our servers unless you save a place.
• Technical data — basic log and device information generated when you visit, used to keep the site secure and working.

• To create and secure your account and show you your saved trips.
• To build the itineraries, budgets and document folders you ask for.
• To send the newsletter or launch updates you opted into (you can unsubscribe at any time).
• To improve our guides, tools and the reliability of the site.
• To meet legal obligations and to prevent fraud or abuse.

Where the UK/EU GDPR applies, we rely on: your consent (newsletter, waitlist, location), performance of a contract (running your account and member features), and our legitimate interests (keeping the service secure and improving it).

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers who make the site work:

• Hosting & database — our application host and managed database provider store your account, trips and uploaded documents.
• Mapping — Google Maps Platform powers the Explorer map.
• Itinerary generation — the trip details you submit are sent to our itinerary generation provider to draft your plan. We do not send your uploaded documents or chat messages.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Trip folders are private storage. Files are readable only by you and the people you invite to that trip. Please upload only what you need, and delete documents once your trip is over.

Account, trip and document data is kept while your account is open. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe. Ask us to delete your account and we will remove your personal data within 30 days, apart from anything we must keep by law.

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, object to certain processing, ask for a portable copy, and withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@saltandsuitcase.app and we will respond within one month. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.

The site is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date below. Continued use of the site means you accept the current version.
